Morning Icks

What's up with this morning?

I wake up a Ms. Sniffles and stuffy. Forgot my breakfast/lunch on the way to the gym so I had to turn around and that made me late. Then my friggin dressing spilt all over my trunk...CRAPOLA.

What kind of day is this going to be? I was thinking it was about to be shitty and then my co-worker says..."Everyday you're alive is a good day". Dadgunit....I can't argue with that.

On a positive note I have increased my Squatting weight to 80lbs, so I can't say" I Ain't got Squat" because evidentially I do:)

Is it Friday yet?

It's raining here. I don't even want to leave the house. I have to go to the bank, the gym and show up at work at some point in time. UGH.

Try squatting 135.

Just load two wheels (45's) on the bar and get under it. Put it up on your shoulders and feel it.

If it's too much, put it back, of course! But if not, take it on down and give it a ride...

I bet you can get it for one rep. Especially if you're fresh. There is nothing like that feeling. It's more empowering than anything else in the world, and it's YOUR victory, no one elses that you'd have to share...

On squats, the weight isn't as important as your form and doing them correctly. Hopefully you doing full squats, ie your theighs need to be parallel to the floor? Back straight, no bouncing, & at least 8 reps. Your hamstrings & glutes will let you know if you're working them. ;)

Smut..

medium stance,no knees over the foot and YES..i friggin feel it in my ass and hammies.

My back was hurting a little though...think I'll find a trainer next time just to be safe

Sorry smut.

Full squats are ass to grass, all the way down. Thighs parallel are "1/2" squats.

Trojan, your back is going to hurt. Part of the game. However, are you doing any posterior chain movements to strengthen your lower back in the form of good mornings or reverse hyperextensions?

Those are necessary supportive movements if you choose to do squats regularly.

Sigh. I remember when I could do full squats. Beware of the knees.

The last time I bitched about feeling shitty, a customer told me "at least your alive and can feel shitty." Same difference. She was a internal med doc.

I do back extensions but am a little scared of good mornings...don't want to injure my back while trying to protect it. I work my abs allot to in hopes of back protection and maybe someday....oh please someday..I could have a 6 pack...

Just my 2 cents, Buzz. Good mornings are okay with proper form and weight. Reverse hyperextensions are bad for the lower back, if, like me, you have an old lower back injury. Reverse hyperextensions would put me in the hospital.

But, like anything, try it. You obviously have been exercising enough to recognize "bad" pain. Sharp, burning, popping, etc.
